Commonly used in residential and light commercial slabs - uniform coverage, easy layout, consistent r value protection. Available in multiple compressive strengths to meet project load requirements.
EPS fanfold underslab insulation is a folded expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation product designed for concrete slab applications. Each unit unfolds to cover 96 square feet (4′ × 24′)—three times the coverage of a standard 4×8 sheet—reducing handling time and seams during installation.
Fanfold panels include an attached 6-mil vapor barrier, eliminating the need to install a separate poly layer. This simplifies layout, speeds installation, and reduces the chance of gaps or misalignment beneath the slab.
XPS is used when the job is engineered, heavier, or moisture-sensitive. It costs more than EPS but offers higher compressive strength and lower water absorption.
